David Robinson, 23, of Riverside, California was in the best shape of his life as a wrestler in high school. But, after high school, the responsibilities of adulthood consumed his time. He stopped working out and developed not-so-great eating habits, which led to weight gain. His “aha” moment came when he tried to fit into a pair of jeans he used to wear in high school. The waist was a 30 and he was currently wearing close to 40. And that did it for him.
In October of 2019, David made the commitment to be consistent in his diet and workouts for 60 days to see what his body was capable of doing. That 60-day challenge turned into a much longer one that led him to compete in his first Men’s Physique bodybuilding competition in November of 2020. He went into it with no expectations and walked away with first place in his height division in the open category. Today, he is working toward earning his pro card so he can make it to the Olympia later this year.
As far as stats are concerned, David started his transformation journey weighing 215 pounds with about 20% body fat. By the time he reached the competition stage, he was 185 pounds with about 5-6% body fat and a pant waist size of 29 inches (down from 40).
Aside from the nutritional coaching and key supplements he got from the experienced team at NUTRISHOP Riverside, David said, “The main thing I felt has helped me so far is staying consistent! I’ve always found myself working out but never yielding any results due to inconsistency when it came to my training and diet.”
Consistency is king. And, if there is anything David would tell anyone looking to do their own transformation journey, it would be to stay consistent.
Today, David is a NUTRISHOP corporate athlete/influencer and he has an online coaching business. We caught up with him to ask him some of our burning questions to learn more about him as a sponsored athlete. Below are his answers:
How did you get involved in competing and how long have you been doing it?
I got involved because I always loved to work out and people in the gym told me I should try competing to see if I like it. I’ve been doing for about 6 months now!
What has been one of the greatest challenges you've faced and how did you overcome it?
Having to prep for shows during the holidays and a pandemic made it very difficult especially as my first time competing.
How have NUTRISHOP® supplements helped you become better at your sport?
The supplements have helped with overall health and things like the pre-workouts have taken my training up a notch!
What is your favorite supplement or supplement stack so far and why?
My favorite stack is Headstrong, Pump Action, and Lipotropic because it gives me the best pumps in the gym and keeps my body temperature warm for the cold workouts! During my transformation journey, my favorite supplements were Superfoods and Nature's Fuel in the morning, and N’Fuze, MERK and Pump Action for pre-workout! I loved the energy it would give me on the days I didn’t feel like working out, it really got me to push through my workout. Now, I’m currently incorporating Daily Detox in the morning.
What does being a part of Team NUTRISHOP® mean to you?
Being on team NUTRISHOP means a lot to me because I feel like I’m part of a family. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable in the industry so I’m proud to back NUTRISHOP as a company!
When times get tough, how do you stay motivated?
I stay motivated by imagining the end result and knowing what work I need to put in to get there.
Who inspires you and why?
